Thanksgiving is a holiday built around being thankful, but what about those who are – less than thankful, for lack of a better word.

There are many crimes that take place on this holiday, one of the most famous being the disappearance of DB Cooper. He disappeared into the sky the night before and has never been seen again, while there is much speculation about whether he lived or not, this example might not hit too close to home. Here are some others that might make you think twice before insulting your aunt’s gross stuffing.

Omaima Nelson, who is now branded as Californian Hannibal Lecter, claims she killed her husband in self-defense. In 1991 Nelson put on red heels and red lipstick before killing her husband, then cooked his ribs and ate them with BBQ sauce.

During her parole hearing she denies eating him, however back in the 90s she bragged out eating his ribs, saying “It’s so sweet.”

On Thanksgiving in 2014, a 19-year-old boy thought it would be fun to steal a car from a gas station, not realizing it had a 1-year-old in the back seat.

He returned the vehicle after 15 mins, it was still enough to charge him with not only theft but kidnapping as well.

Stealing and Eating a Pet

After realizing that their family pet, Tom the turkey, was missing the Caponi’s checked the security footage of their farm and found that one of their neighbors, along with a friend, had stolen him.

The boys were found on the way to the butcher when they were arrested and admitted that they were going to eat him for Thanksgiving.

They were charged with armed burglary, armed trespassing, theft of livestock and animal cruelty.

The Caponi’s were very upset, “My husband and I are big animal lovers,” Christa said. “Our animals are very close to us.”
